Zippity Do Da and A Wino

Zippity-Do-Da-Motherfuckers! I made it. I actually posted for every letter. I basically wrote  everyday. It was a hectic month. I've had a lot of shit on my mind and dark clouds over my head, writing has really helped in a way that only running used to. Yay, for free therapy!

This week's topic is: What's bugging you lately?

What's bugging me, is that I've run into a road block. It's my drinking. I'm trying to lose weight and drinking is not conducive to this quest. Unfortunately not drinking means...(dramatic pause)... No drinking, and that just sucks.

It bothers me that I'm an alcoholic.

Not in a lose my job, family, home, dignity kind of way.

Not in a have to do it, to make it through a day kind of way.

I just like to, and I do. Often. It's just every time I shouldn't, because it's empty calories, or it's poison for the body I'm training, or I was pregnant and then pumping and nursing. I have to face the fact that I hate not being able to drink when I want to. That my friends makes me a wino.

And that really bothers me.

  2. I heard that doctors recommend a glass of red wine every night. So if a doctor says we should do it who are we to question what a medical professional knows?

  3. I think we have to have a glass of wine at night. It is the reward for drinking nothing but water from 6am to 8pm. Then the girls are in bed and my reward is a glass of Pinot Grigio.

  4. I let myself have a glass of wine every weekend. Or two. Or three. But my husband quit drinking, so I suppose I should be nice and support him by not drinking myself. Or waiting until he goes to bed.

  6. First of all CONGRATULATIONS! You did better with the challenge than I did and I'm the fucking host.

Second. You are not an alcoholic. Alcoholic's have addictions and possibly go to meetings.

You're a drunk. Drunks, while they drink too much, aren't addicted. I'm a drunk, too.

And guess what? I haven't had a drink in over 8 days because I gave it up along with smoking (That's on day 10) because it was a trigger to smoke.

I just said, nope, no more triggers and I haven't drank since. No DT's, shakes, withdrawals. But nicotine is kicking my ass so now I feel I'm an expert on addictions and alcoholics vs drunks.

Anyways. If you like to drink, drink. Stop if it's an issue.

    1. First, CONGRATULATIONS to you on quitting smoking, that is HUGE! and extremely difficult. Smart to ditch the triggers.

I guess the part that makes me nuts is how much will power it takes for me not to drink. But your right except for not dropping lbs as fast as I would like, it doesn't interfere in my life. -Thanx

  7. Thanks. Honestly? I quit mostly because of how much it was costing me. $30 a week on cigs is redonk. Fuck that noise. But what I tell people? It's so I can run faster when the Zombies come.

Just change WHAT you drink to aid in the weight loss. Exercise more.

    1. Holyshit! $30/wk shit. I'm glad you're thinking about the future, I was worried about your cardio capacity...

I know, I was going to give up wine and margaritas. But then they're delicious and I'm a drunk (as established) so I drank lots of them. But it's funking vodka tonics for me from now on...

  8. I stopped drinking my Mike's in an effort to lose weight. I cut back on my coffee to 1 cup (or 2...3 tops!) a day, and I drank nothing but water.

    I didn't lose weight.

So I started drinking my Mike's again. Apparently, my body didn't like losing its alcohol source. :-)
