Is Clutter a Collection?

Collections. Do I collect?

Yeah, I'm a pack rat. It's terrible. Worse still, I'm married to another pack rat. Wait there's more, he thinks that he isn't a pack rat, and that I'm the only one that holds on to everything. So you can imagine what my home is like. On the plus side, we're not Clean House crazy.

Here's a short list of things I collect or have collected (and therefore still have in a box somewhere).

Mickey Mouse paraphernalia, I have silverware, a toaster, a waffle iron, cake pans, jello molds, bedding, coffee mugs, stamps, stationary, phones, stickers, books, vinyl toys, I'll just stop now. I'm embarrassing myself.

Movies. We love movies. We own lots.

Vinyl toys. I wish I had lots more.

Scrap booking/card making supplies. I own so much scrap booking and rubber stamp paraphernalia that I have several storage containers for it. Not one, two or even three. Several. How often do I scrapbook? Since I got pregnant. 1 night for 3 hrs. So, that was money well spent. Oh and how often do I make cards? I've made like 30 thank you notes, 20 invitations, and 10 random cute cards and 30 almost finished Christmas cards. All in just 15 years. It only cost me about $600, so totally worth it.

I also went through a jewelry making phase. So I have tools, cases of beads and natural stones, wires, clasps, and toggles.

I love belt buckles. I have a nice little collection of them. My favorite doubles as a flask.

I collect clutter. There I said it. Also hobbies. I'm a collector, but I'm trying not to be.

  1. Haha, I love hobby whims. I scrap booked for about 3 months. I loved it very much. For three months. When I told my husband recently that I wanted a jewelry stamping kit, he asked me if I was going to keep it next to my sewing machine, button maker, and bedazzler. Ask me where they are...

    1. Lol, I loved it very much do. I actually have several scrap books, all finished. Even one of my first babies, my kitties. I have several more started. I also actually have several necklaces and other pieces. But at this point in my life, it's just more honest to call it what it is. Clutter.

  2. I wrote mine about Mickey Mouse stuff too--you should have seen my kitchen when I was single! And I go back and forth through scrapbooking phases...right now it's all up in a box in the spare room and I can hear it calling to me....hmmm...might be a scrapbooking kind of afternoon!

    1. I stopped because I was to ashamed to admit just how much I own. It was scary to think about. I also collected mine while single. I have been pairing it down for years. Years.

I wish I was going to scrapbook today...

  4. I like how you phrased that "I collect clutter." Pinterest introduced me to scrapbooking and I became obsessed with getting one of those cricut (sp?) machines until I went to the craft store and saw how expensive they are. Crazy.

    1. It's so easy to convince yourself. I wont waste time going to store, I'll put all that cardstock to good use, I'll scrapbook so much more...

All kidding aside it is STILL my favorite hobby and I will pick it up again

  5. I conveniently forgot about my jewelry making phase, and my scrapbooking phase. If you get back into either of those, let me know, and I'll send you all my crap!

    1. I will definitely start scrap booking again. But I'm snobby and only use creative memories. Oh and lots of stickers, so sure send me more clutter. The hubby will love you

    1. mmmm... you have peeked my interest. I live in one of the most expensive areas in California, it has not helped me.

Okay, that's totally a lie it has helped. I would probably have a scrapbooking room if I could afford it, I would still have only 3 hrs to show for it (in the last 3 years, because I really do have lots of scrapbooks done and hours and hours of logged time devoted to this).

    1. It's a beautiful flag buckle (totally patriotic) and it's a flask. I recommend that you do get one. It has saved me at many a beer only events.
